SJCL is thrilled to congratulate students Cindy Arredondo (4L) and Karen Lopez-Pena (2L) for their selection as recipients of Soroptimist International’s 2023 “Furthering the Dream” award. Sponsored by the Sierra Pacific Region, the mission of the award is to “advance the status of women through financial support while they pursue a baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral, law, medicine, teaching, or technical degree/certificate.”
The term “soroptimist” means “best for women”. The “Furthering the Dream” award is just one of the award programs sponsored by the organization. Another award, “Dream It, Be It” provides women and girls with the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals. Hanna Ravizza (2L), spoke recently at the Clovis Soroptimist’s Cottage Tea and Luncheon as a recipient of the “Dream It, Be It” scholarship. “Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
