Students at SJCL not only learn the law, but also how to be lawyers. Students in the Three Year program must, and Four Year program may, participate in our Experiential Learning program. Students earn credits toward their degree through participation in one of our in-house Clinics or through the Externship program.
Clinics
New American Legal Clinic
Students enrolled in the New American Legal Clinic, under clinical director supervision, will take on all major aspects of representing a client before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), including interviewing clients, preparing forms, analyzing and arguing complex legal issues, and attending USCIS applicant interviews. Students also have the opportunity to educate the community on immigration issues, such as explaining the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program to young adults or the availability of U-Visas to victims of domestic violence.
