Class of 1975
Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera began as a 42-bed facility in 1952. Today, it is a 358-bed, nationally respected-pediatric healthcare network – some 70 years in the making.
Throughout the Valley Children’s Network, high quality care is provided to more than 1.3 million kids - by more than 670 physicians and 3,500 staff associates. This kind of success only happens with a continuing legacy of superior leadership and dedication.
Michael Goldring is one such leader. In his role as Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Valley Children’s Healthcare, he is responsible for strategic partnerships with other health systems and governmental parties. He is also responsible for the future development of Valley Children’s medical campus expansion.
Prior to his current duties, Mr. Goldring served as President of Valley Children’s Medical Group, the Medical Foundation for the hospital. There, he was responsible for the clinically integrated provider network, ambulatory practices and regional specialty centers and physicians, primary care network, and working with system partners to provide increased access to pediatric care throughout the service area. If that isn’t impressive enough, Mr. Goldring joined the Healthcare team in 2014, after being recruited by Todd Suntrapak, the system’s CEO; who, together with the board, had a grand vision that they asked Mr. Goldring to execute upon. Thus, after having worked for 25 years as an attorney in private practice, he pursued this career change.
While a partner at Baker, Manock & Jensen his area of focus was, of course, healthcare law. Then, together with Bob Fishman and Doug Larsen, and later William Chaltraw, he founded the firm Fishman, Larsen and Goldring. While there he counseled health systems, physicians, plans and provider networks on joint ventures, integration, and business transactions. Along with his 30 years of experience in the healthcare sector, Mr. Goldring holds an AV Preeminent® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell®.
Raised in both Long Island, New York, and the San Joaquin Valley, Mr. Goldring received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California, where he honed his love for the USC Trojans…(Fight On!). After completing his studies at SJCL, he both graduated and passed the bar in 1989 – which he maintains was the result of an incredible study group consisting of Judge James Petrucelli and Dr. Bud Ellis.
Michael and his wife, Kimberly, are the proud parents to Jocelyn, Alexis and Rachael. He is a passionate advocate for medically complex children and patients needing specialized care. In that regard he has served in leadership roles with a number of non-profits, including Exceptional Parents Unlimited; Valley Children’s Foundation; Camp Taylor - a camp for medically complex children; Children’s Specialty Care Coalition; the Padrino’s Guild; and the Baby Heart Foundation, among others.
In his free time, Michael has enjoyed playing hockey, and spending time in the mountains and outdoors. He picked up a Nikon camera around the age of fifteen and discovered a love for the magic he finds creating wildlife, landscape, and nature photography. His “stories” as he calls his photos, capture random instants in the lives of living things; the interplay of light and landscape; and a myriad of other things all happening at once. A gallery of his beautiful photographs can be seen at yosemitelight.com. Michael and his family live between the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains and the San Joaquin River, surrounded by what he calls “the many wonders of nature.” He additionally shares a great passion for hiking, biking, and one very special grandson.
