Ann Hinesley-Perez
Six years after UC Merced opened for classes, one of its graduates has earned a Juris Doctor from San Joaquin College of Law. Ann Hinesley-Perez says she was unaware of her historic status as the first UC Merced Alum to graduate from SJCL, but adds she believes the purpose of UC Merced is “to feed the Central Valley.”

That “feed” will continue; two other UC Merced alumni are currently enrolled at SJCL and at least two others have already been accepted for the fall of 2011. SJCL alumni now include graduates from every one of the ten UC campuses, including two UCSF grads who enrolled in the Law School when they were already physicians.

Hinesley-Perez spent her first two years of undergraduate work at U-C Berkeley, but then transferred to Merced in 2006 as the new UC campus geared up. She graduated two years later with a degree in Psychology, after having made the Dean’s List both years she attended that campus.
